Liquid Urea - Introduction

Spoke
Injection System (SIS) liquid urea is a unique product and service
from Carrs Fertilisers, available to farmers in south west Scotland.
SIS
works by injecting enough liquid urea to supply the entire season's
nitrogen requirement into the rooting zone at the beginning of the
season. The urea is injected 8 - 10 cms below the soil surface.
Typically,
when urea is surface applied, up to 30% of the N can be lost through
volatilisation and up to 25% of the N can be lost through nitrate
leaching.
Carrs
Fertilisers SIS liquid urea can greatly reduce these losses to increase
the efficiency of the N recovery and minimise environmental damage.
By injecting liquid urea below the soil surface, SIS greatly reduces
the risk of ammonia N being lost through volatilisation.
Carrs
Fertilisers treat their SIS liquid urea with an inhibitor which
further reduces the risk of nitrogen losses and therefore improves
efficiency.
