New Choice - the new environmental way

OBJECTIVE
The principal objective of 'New Choice' is twin pillared in enabling farmers to balance optimal production targets with environmental protection by minimising nutrient losses.

NUTRIENT LOSS
The loss of nutrients - particularly nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) - from farming is a major concern for two main reasons:

nutrient loss is inefficient and represents a significant financial cost for farmers, and nutrient loss can cause environmental damage to air and water quality.

Minimising nutrient loss is a key objective of DEFRA and the EU, as reflected in the increasing number of Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ's) and the EU Water Framework Directive.

Farmers can be proactive in reducing nutrient losses from their farms by adopting the principles of 'best farm practice' with regard to the management of their fertiliser and organic manure inputs.

Such an approach will enable farmers to improve their nutrient efficiencies and protect the environment at the same time.

'New Choice' and Carrs Fertilisers new Technical Services package are specifically designed to help farmers to manage their nutrient inputs in the most agronomically, economically and environmentally effective manner.

"A comprehensive, new approach to
integrated nutrient management."
